LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — The president of the new Kentucky Kingdom Ed Hart and his partners announced the biggest expansion in the amusement park’s 25 year history on Thursday, June 27.
The announcement came on the same day that the state fair board signed off on the agreements with the park management.
The highlights of the new park include the first new rollercoaster in 17 years there and a large expansion of the water park.
“We’re adding next year a $7 million rollercoaster and spending about $12 million to double the size of the water park.”
Kentucky Kingdom is expected to open in May of 2014.
